END OF SUPPORT

END OF SUPPORT CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION FOR OLDER ENCORE SYSTEMS

Effective November 1 st , 2023

In order to provide effective support across the breadth of currently available WFO software and tools, DVSAnalytics will eliminate support for older Encore systems as outlined below:

  • Encore 6 releases will no longer be supported as of June 30, 2024
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 will no longer be supported as a host OS as of June 30, 2024

Customers using Encore 6 and/or Windows Server 2012 R2 are encouraged to begin making plans immediately to upgrade Encore and/or their host server OS before June 30, 2024. It is recommended that customers upgrade to Encore 9.0 and Windows Server 2022 (1) . Specific migration questions should be discussed with your DVSAnalytics partner or with DVS Sales.

(1) Encore 9.0 can also run on Windows Server 2019. Upgrade/migration configurations depend on a number of different factors.

Server (Hardware) Support

Please note that DVSAnalytics officially stopped all server (hardware) sales as of January 1, 2023. In addition to the software end of support announcement above, we want to remind customers that DVS will not renew hardware support contracts beyond their current contract date.

Customers using DVS-supplied servers should check when their hardware support contract expires, and plan to migrate to a non-DVS-supplied server OR secure support for the current server from another entity before their DVS support expires.

Additional End of Support Notifications

Some older Encore features are not supported in later releases. This may impact some customers as they plan for migration to newer releases. Please review the list below. If you use either of the features below, please contact DVS Sales as soon as possible.

  • Trunked radio recording
  • Agent Assist or eCapture in conjunction with trunk-side audio recording

END OF SUPPORT FAQ

Encore Cloud customers enjoy operating on newer releases of Encore and Windows OS with upgrades and maintenance provided by DVSAnalytics Cloud Support. If you have an Encore recording appliance connected to a premise-based UC system, please confirm the host OS version is not affected by this End of Service notification.

The About page will show you the release. Affected releases are: Encore 6.0.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.3, 6.0.4, 6.0.5, and 6.0.6. Encore releases 7.x and 8.x are not affected by this notice. Please contact DVS Support if you cannot locate the release version you have.

Microsoft’s official End of Life date for Windows Server 2012 R2 was October 10, 2023. Machines with an operating system beyond their End of Life date are not able to be supported or maintained properly. If you have a server with Windows Server 2012 R2 OS running Encore software, please contact DVS Support as soon as possible to discuss migration.

Generally, our support for a particular operating system ends on or before Microsoft’s official end of support date. Windows Server 2012 R2 had a very long support life. Older operating systems, including Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP/7, are already past their end of support periods.

You’ll need to work with the server provider or check the manufacturer’s specifications to determine if it can support a newer OS. If DVS provided you with the server, then we will help you answer that question.

Software Assurance agreements cover all software maintenance and support, including software upgrades. A software Assurance agreement must be in place in order to plan and execute software upgrades OR any necessary system upgrades related to this End of Support notification, like upgrading the server to a new OS. Please confirm your SWA end date and make plans for renewal as needed.

Probably not. DVSAnalytics has been phasing out of selling servers as part of Encore systems; most customers source their own virtual or physical servers. Some older deployments may still use servers that were provided by DVS. In such cases, DVS will provide maintenance support for the server. However, that support does not include upgrading the OS and re-installing Encore.

Software Assurance does not cover all services; for example, if you want to upgrade your Encore software during non-business hours, there are fees for after-hours professional services. Similarly, Software Assurance also does not cover OS installation on a new or existing server, or re-installation of Encore software after a server OS upgrade. Please contact DVS Support for a review of any upgrade or migration needs, so that a quote for services can be prepared for you.

The enterprise software arena has been moving to virtual application servers for some time. It is very difficult for specialty software providers like DVS to source, supply, and support hardware for it’s software. As a result, DVS decided to stop offering physical servers to its customers. This end of support notification is the result of that decision. Please contact DVS to discuss a migration plan for your DVS-provided server hardware.

With an Encore Software Subscription, your Software Assurance is part of your subscription. There are extra fees if after-hours upgrades or server migration services need to be performed. Please contact DVS Support for a review of any upgrade or migration needs, so that a quote for services can be prepared for you.

No. DVSAnalytics will continue to offer and support physical hardware to support non-VoIP recording boards, when they are used. Customers (or their DVS channel partners) will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining the servers those boards are used in, and for integrating the boards and connecting them to non-VoIP telephony interfaces.

Customers have the option to migrate non-VoIP recording servers to a non-DVS-supplied server OR obtain support for the current recording server before the end of 2024. The migration plan could include the purchase of new non-VoIP recording boards from DVS.

The two software components at the core of this announcement, Encore 6.0.6 and Windows 2012 R2, were released in 2017 and 2013, respectively. The combined age of both components is more than 16 years. DVSAnalytics delayed the end of support announcement for Encore 6.0.6 until both Encore 7 (which enhanced the Encore datastore) and Encore 8 (which overhauled the user interface) were made available to its customer base. The majority of our customer base has migrated to these more current versions. As we are now supporting 4 major releases of Encore, it is now necessary to hasten the migration away from our oldest versions. That being said, we do plan to adopt a more traditional timeline of at least 12 months for future end of support notifications.

Customers should consider the costs of unsupported system components when designing a timeline for upgrade/migration. We encourage all customers affected by this notice to contact DVS customer support as soon as possible so we can help make plans with you. If contingency plans are required, we will work with you to make sure your Encore system is upgraded and/or migrated successfully while providing uninterrupted support.
